May is Oregon Wine Month

Bud Break

Bayliss-Bower vineyard experienced bud break a few days ago. We are very excited to see the start of the 2021 vintage as we open the tasting room for the season.

Ghost Hill Cellars is officially open Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m!  Social distancing will be practiced with limited space available in our tasting room. Outside seating is always available. However, in the case of Oregon showers, visitors are able to make a reservation to reserve a spot inside. Please call 503-883-3064 or 503-550-0104 to make an appointment.

Spring Special

Remember our ghost of the gold prospector? If you have not heard the story, please read about it on our website. In honor of the miner who allegedly lost his gold and his life, we are offering our 2015 Prospector’s Reserve Pinot Noir at $38.00 a bottle.  Buy this wine online or in the tasting room.

Tasting notes for the 2015 Prospector’s Reserve Pinot Noir: A dense, bold wine, with tart cherry, ripe plums, and chocolate open the nose then give way to darker and earthier aromas of spice and game.  It is powerful and lively in the mouth, with a seamless backbone and a silky restrained power.  A great candidate for the cellar, but would show well now with rich grilled meat.

Spring is a great time to become a member of either of our wine clubs so that you will be able to take advantage of the benefits throughout the wine tasting season. For more information and how to sign up, please visit our website.

July 2020 Newsletter

Welcome to Ghost Hill Cellars Gazette!

Thank you for your loyal support and your love for our family’s wine. We appreciate you being part of the Ghost Hill family, and we cannot wait to share a glass of wine with you (or a bottle). Our goal is to have a monthly newsletter to keep in touch with all our favorite wine drinkers. Every issue will be different, but follow a similar outline each time, such as    Tasting Room, News from the Vine, Events, Featured Wines, wine and food pairings under our Excellent Pairings, and even an occasional ghost story from the farm. Keep a lookout for promotions, events, and even games.

News from the Vine

2020—What a year it has been so far!? Even with all the chaos, we have found some comfort in knowing harvest is still right around the corner. The vines appear to have started flowering a little early this year; warm weather has escalated the growth and maturing. So much so that Mike has been working in the vineyard, disking and mowing. It is critical to keep down the weeds so the beautiful sun can reach the fruit. Because of the vigorous growth, the vines will need hedging soon.

The vineyard looks great!

IMPACT OF COVID

Ghost Hill Cellars is open by appointment. Due to the size of the tasting room, we are only allowed four people in a group. Thankfully summer is here, and on sunny days we have tables set up in the yard with plenty of social distancing!

Please call us at 503-852-7347 to schedule your next visit.

Tales from the Farm

In the late 1800s, Oregon was in the middle of a gold rush. A miner, traveling to Portland with his hard-earned pouch of gold, camped for the night at the top of what is now knowns as Ghost Hill. While sleeping, the miner and his horse were killed, his gold stolen. To this day, the miner is said to be wandering the property searching for his treasure.

Bonus: Do you recognize the miner from the story in our logo?
